Imray · IALA Region A
Direction of buoyage
Buoys & beaconsCore
An outlined arrow shows the conventional direction used for lateral marks.
What it means
The outlined arrow marks the conventional direction of buoyage where it might otherwise be unclear. Imray's Region A key places red port-hand marks and green starboard-hand marks in that direction.
Why it matters
Use the charted arrow, not the vessel's heading, to interpret lateral marks. In IALA Region B the lateral colours reverse, while the can/cone shapes do not.
