Chart No. 1 · Q 110
Beacon tower
Buoys & beacons
A tower-shaped fixed mark, charted as a small tower glyph — a substantial masonry or lattice structure.
What it means
A small tower pictogram marks a beacon tower: a substantial fixed structure (masonry or lattice), painted and/or carrying a topmark according to its IALA function.
Why it matters
Beacon towers are excellent daytime fixing marks — solid, charted precisely, and visible far off. Many carry lights and appear with a magenta flare at night.
